The principle source for demographic information in Canada is the Census. It is a wealth of information based in many cases on sample sizes of nearly 98% of households. The Census provides you with statistics on age and gender, marital status, income, occupation, household characteristics, ethnic origin, home language, housing characteristics, religion, and immigration dates among many other variables. As yet only the initial results from the 2006 Census are available. The first release was on March 13, 2007 and only covered total population and dwelling counts. As of September 12, 2007, age and gender, family, household and dwelling details are now available as well. The following table provides a list of the expected release dates for more 2006 Census data. Click on live links to view available highlights.
